Out and About

Things to see and do........

Poised between a magnificent coastline and Mount Vesuvius, the beautiful city of Naples has much to offer its visitors. From archaeological sights and historical monuments, to lively piazzas and excellent shopping, there is a wealth of things to see and do in this vibrant city. Wandering through the chaotic labyrinth of streets alone is a true experience in outdoor theatre! Explore the tangle of stepped lanes in the centro storico, sample the local espresso coffee while watching the world go by, enjoy an original Neapolitan pizza in an authentic pizzeria or treat yourself to an evening at the famous San Carlo Opera House. Italy's largest palazzo is also situated only a short distance away in Caserta - elegant and ornate, it is often likened to Versailles Palace. Or take a day trip to the lovely island of Capri or Ischia with regular boat and hydrofoil services leaving the port of Naples daily.

Activities and Sports.

Many of the Hotels have tennis courts for there guests use and from various beaches in the area it is possible to arrange various water sports including sailing, windsurfing, cannoes, small boats and hobie cats are all available for rent. There are also horse riding stables that offer lovely treks through the local countryside.

There are a number of Dive Centre's along the coast. The hotels can make all arrangements on your behalf. Please ask at reception.

Volturno Golf - Castel Volturno

Set in a beautiful location by the Mediterranean and surrounded by an ancient pine forest. This attractive 18 hole course gives the visitor to this part of Italy the opportunity to play in a lovely location and to enjoy the first class facilities that the Club has to offer. For those that like to stay close to the course take a look at the Holiday Inn resort hotel.

Restaurants and evening entertainment

The area has a great selection of restaurants for all tastes and budgets. Naples Italy hotels have visited a number of restaurants in and around the area that have a good reputation and offer value plus quality. However, there are many to choose from and many new establishments that open every year that once in the resort just ask the locals for recommendations.

Trattoria da Nennella.

Lively atmosphere with real Italian cooking. The small menu changes daily and all fresh. Not a fancy restaurant, but offering a real local experience. Great for lunch and dinner. Inexpensive/cheap.

Di Mateo - pizzeria.

This is a great pizza restaurant with a long tradition. The menu dosn't go on and on with every type of pizza, just the main ones. Full of locals and regulars. Cheap prices around 3-5 euro per pizza. Great value.

Dal Delicato.

Fresh fish and seafood offering Italian specialities. Good service and great food. Menu also offers quality meat and pizza. Excellent wine list. Mid range prices. Value.

Marino

Good quality Italian food. Popular with locals and offers a mixed menu of Freshh Fish, meat or quality Pizza. Great atmosphere and local's prices. Good value.

Anticca Latteria.

Converted from an old dairy. Great little restaurant with a quality meat and fish menu. Loads of real Naples atmosphere at very good prices. Well worth a try.

Nightlife.

Naples has some good nightlife but you must be a little careful where you go. Try the Mouse Club in the historic centre, good music and lively atmosphere. Riot at Via San Biagio 38  plays good jazz music with live bands. Vibes Café has an indoor and outdoor area, both of which provide live music. It is located at Via San Giovanni Maggiore Pignatelli.  Naples has a host of nightime options, ask at the hotel or in the local restaurants for whats hot just now.
